You’ve decided it’s time to switch to water-activated tape to seal your cartons. Now it’s time to choose a water-activated tape dispenser that will meet your business’s needs. When you tally the advantages of switching to water-activated tape, including increased productivity, reduced employee fatigue, carton security that results from the tamper-evident bond, and branding ability, it’s easy to see why the tape change makes sense for so many organizations.

How do you choose the right dispenser for your company? The choice depends on your specific needs. Fortunately, there are many different models available with a variety of configurations, and Better Packages has more models to choose from than any other manufacturer. When analyzing your needs, factor your current shipping situation and where you expect your business to be in the next few years. You want to choose a system that your company can grow into as business expands.

Here are some questions to ask yourself to help with dispenser decision-making.

Is There Power at Your Packing Stations?

If your packing station does not have electricity, you need to focus on manual water-activated dispensers. Here are two models from which to choose.

Packer 3S: This is an easy-to-use pull & tear water-activated tape dispenser. It is useful when a company is packing only a few cartons per day.

Better Pack 333: Rugged and reliable, this dispenser features 15 pre-set tape lengths, making it operator friendly. Use this unit when you’re packing between 10 and 50 cartons per day.

Higher Volume Environments

How many cartons is your organization packing per day? If you’re sealing more than 50 cartons, you’ll want to consider moving up to an electric dispenser. Electric dispensers automatically provide a specific length of tape with the touch of a button. These dispensers enhance productivity and reduce packer fatigue. High volume packing operations require efficient operations. The Better Pack 555e series is one option to consider.

Better Pack 555eS: With customizable tape lengths via its programmable keypad, this water-activated tape dispenser holds 1,000-foot rolls of tape, versus the usual 600’. This means less downtime spent changing over the tape in the dispenser.

Better Pack 555eSA: This model also has a programmable keypad and a 1,000-foot tape roll capacity, but also features an automatic tape advance feature that automatically dispenses the next strip when a piece of tape is removed from the dispenser.

Is Your Packing Station Space Limited but You Have High Volume Requirements?

When you’re sealing high volumes of cartons, but packing station height is an issue, you’ll want a tape dispenser with a low profile. Better Packages has 2 models that are 9.5” high and will fit into “cubby” type spaces.

Better Pack 755eS: This dispenser features 20 preset tape lengths, making it perfect for companies packing random-sized cartons. For companies packing bulky or heavy cartons, this dispenser accommodates 4” wide water-activated tape.

Better Pack 755eSA: For higher volume environments, this model features 3 dispensing modes: manual that dispenses tape at the touch of a button, auto repeat that dispenses the next piece as soon as you retrieve your length of tape, and 1-2-2 option for h-pattern sealing. Like the BP755eS, the BP755eSA also allows packers to use 4” wide tape.

Choosing the best water-activated tape dispenser for your situation requires some research and analysis so that it will meet your company’s needs today and in years to come.
